Terong pipit
| Solanum torvum, known locally as Terong Pipit,
is a shrub growing to about 5 feet or more. It is used to treat headaches, aching muscles,
cholera, diarrhoea and to bring down a high fever. A lotion made from the leaves is used
to treat haemorrhoids or piles, whilst the roots may be pound into a paste to treat cracks
in the feet. The fruit of the Terong Pipit is eaten to help reduce high blood pressure.
Apart from these medicinal values, rural people add the leaves of the Terong Pipit into
food as an appetite enhancer.
