Kulit Kayu Manis

An evergreen medium-sized tree in the Malaysian rainforest. Cinnamomum iners is a cousin to the Indian Cinnamon- Cinnamomum zeylanicum - from which we obtain the renowned spice. Also related to cloves, Cinnamomum iners is given different names in Malaysia according to the aroma the leaves exude when crushed. There is Kulit Kayu Manis, which literally means sweet bark, if the leaves smell of cinnamon when crushed and Medang Kemangi for those smelling of saffrol. The oil extracted from these leaves is used for a variety of purposes, one of which is aromatherapy. The roots have been traditionally used for the treatment of rheumatism and fever.
