Bidara

bidara.jpg (11804 bytes) Ziziphus mauritania, known locally as Bidara, is a small tree that grows to about 15 feet. Found wild in the forest it is cultivated for its medicinal value in many villages, particularly in the state of Malacca. The bark and seeds of the Bidara are boiled in water and taken as an aid to halt diarrhoea. The Bidara tree also bears a small fruit that is sweet and edible.
